News Update: iPad Competitors Show Off at Taiwanese Trade Show

Manufacturers unveiled their versions of the ever-popular Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad at the Computex trade show in Taiwan this week, causing a fervor for companies to develop the next buzzed about tablet. “Apple paves the way for other companies to follow,” said analyst Brian White. “Apple is opening up a new market. There’s going to be many, many competitors.” Asustek Computer Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) revealed their new products at the trade show, which aims to unveil the hottest new tech products in the consumer category. Qualcomm demonstrated its new Snapdragon chipset platform devices, including brand new tablets from Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL), which has unveiled its Streak tablet to the UK market last week. Dell’s Streak tablet uses a Qualcomm processor and Google Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android OS. Qualcomm officials also said the company also demonstrated its S7 tablet at the trade show, and revealed new smart phones and smart books that are based on the company’s microprocessor technology. Shares of Qualcomm are trading up .90% at .93.
