Most people think they only want an iPad to satisfy some Techno-obsessive compulsion.

However most people need the capabilities of an iPad. Why?

In today’s modern world driven by emails, social networking and tough economy, everyone needs the advantage that a portable, full featured computerised Tablet computer provides. Being able to find the information instantly and to be productive anywhere is empowering. Let the Technophobic live in the dark ages. The 21st century requires that we all have equal access to the information from the internet.

Wireless Connectivity
With built-in 802.11n, iPad takes advantage of the fastest Wi-Fi networks. It automatically locates available Wi-Fi networks, which you can join with a few taps.

With Starbucks, MacDonalds, Airports and a growing list of other available wi-fi hotspots.

Now it is never too hard to update your Facebook wall, send a Twitter message, send that important email or write that killer blogposs while drinking coffee or travelling wherever you are.

3G cell Connectivity
iPad is also available in a 3G model with superfast data speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. So if you’re traveling or you happen to be somewhere without a Wi-Fi network, you can still get a fast connection for surfing the web. With 3g and GSM Cell phone networks available worldwide, it truly makes the iPad the truly global interface to human knowledge.

While this may be the official launch of the Ipad 2, it does not neccessarily mean it will be on shelves in a matter of days. In most cases with Apple releases, it could be weeks or months before they eventually hit the shelves. Generally the specs released will be the production unit but it is known that several minor changes may be done between release and actual shipping of the units to stores and customers.

So what DO we know about the Apple 2? Several weeks ago we saw a sneak peek at the new body of the Ipad 2 at a trade show.

Here are some educated guesses on what might be in store:

Cameras: The addition of dual-cameras for Facetime is almost a given. All leaked images of new iPad accessories suggest the inclusion of dual cameras. In the recently launched MacBook Pros, Apple has introduced HD Facetime cameras. We may see them featured in the iPad 2 as well.

CPU Grunt and R.A.M: Every other slate released after the Ipad has increased their hardware capacity in their attempt to put up a fight with the Apple slate goliath. Guess are at the Ipad 2 will have at least a dual core 1.1Ghz CPU based on the A9 Cortex family. We could all be surprised and perhaps see a 1.2GHZ DC CPU used. A minimum of half gig of ram is to be expected if Ipad 2 is to compete with its competitors in 2011.

HD Display (Retina): The Retina display has been a fan favourite of Iphone 4 users. So much that many have abandoned the Ipad fort the Iphone 4 when it was releaesd. To expect a Retina display in a tablet could be wishful thinking, as cost would be extremely high for a display of that size. We may see a HD display of some sort, but dont be surprised if we do not see a Retina type quality display on the iPad 2.

SD and/or USB slots: THe recent trade show pics showed a body that caters for USB and an SD card slot, devices expected these days in most netbooks and now Tablets. Apple is generally shy when it comes to adopting USB, but who knows, consumer demand may change that. Perhaps we may see a Thunderbolt connectors on the iPad 2, but that will be 50/50 as consumers may not need such a port on a Tablet.

Capacity: With the increasing trend of HD movies and large files, the Ipad 2 should be expected to start its base models where the Ipad had its top, 64gb. 128+ will certainly be expected, nearing the Macbook Air territory

OS: iPad 2 is expected to launch with iOS 4.3 but many will be disappointed as all the early builds of the software do not indicate any major UI changes. In the SDKs and beta versions of iOS 4.3, Apple has focused on under-the-hood changes, which make the iOS smoother while adding features such as tethering and added Airplay support. For those who are in love with the carousels and widgets found in Honeycomb, the iPad2 may leave you dissapointed.

4G: The next iteration may be going 4G with Apple already adopting Verizon’s network for the iPhone. Verizon has a solid LTE network in place and it would be a wise move to release a 4G version specially because Motorola has announced the Xoom would be 4G upgradable. This rumor is strengthened by the fact that Apple has been working with Qualcomm the supplier of LTE chips and in all likelihood the iPad 2 and the iPhone 5 will feature Qualcomm’s LTE technology.

Listening to your favourite music while reading a book makes for a relaxing time.

Using the optional external keyboard, mouse and monitor makes for a productive work space.

In other words an iPad does not make more work, but makes it less arduous and more enjoyable.

With the release of the ios4.0 based iPhone 4 and iPad models, the app download feeding frenzy had commenced.

Suddenly new and exciting ways to use smartphone and tablet computers were being developed by software gurus worldwide.

The phrase “We have an app for that” became the mantra of a whole range of companies.
