Apple’s iTunes App Store
Apple created the iTunes Online originally just for music downloads. With the release of the highly popular iPhone 4 and iPad in the last year it has become the number 1 download site for software in the world.
The sheer amount downloaded, of the apps or software modules, is staggering. On Jan 22nd 2011, the 10 Billionth app was downloaded. The amazing about that number is that only 2 yrs before, it was announced that on Jan 16th 2009, that the 500 million mark had been passed.
With the release of the ios4.0 based iPhone 4 and iPad models, the app download feeding frenzy had commenced.
Suddenly new and exciting ways to use smartphone and tablet computers were being developed by software gurus worldwide.
The phrase “We have an app for that” became the mantra of a whole range of companies.
